tweeters,

In response to the American Black Duck mix up from the Walla Walla River
area.

There is one record for Walla Walla Co. and it comes from the Walla Walla
River mouth area. I and Terry (?) from Idaho (a friend of John Gatchets)
found 1 American Black Duck there on Sept. 23, 1990.

There is also 1 record from Texas Lake, Whitman Co. on August 17, 1949.

These ducks wander occasionally, but most records are from the otherside of
the Rocky Mts. I and Glenn Clifton found one in Alberta in late May back in
the 1970's near Buffalo Lake which is east of Red Deer, Alta. If you need
this date I can probably dig it up also. Let me know if interested.

I did not know Diann when she wrote her book, otherwise I would have been
available to help her. Since her book came out Diann probably has met more
birders in Washington than she ever had any idea existed.
