In the last ABA listing supplement Blake Maybank, the editor, suggests
changing the minimum qualifying species count for a state or province to
80% of the annually occuring species from 50% of the total species in the
state.

So, what IS the count of species occuring every year in Washington?
Maybank suggests using the guideline of at least every year for about the
past ten years and says don't be too picky.

I ran through the WOS Field Card and counted 331 species which seem to show
up every year, or are residents. Some, like shorebirds, may only have one
or two sightings per year.

What are your thoughts or calculations? If it differs significantly from
my quick look, I'll revise my message to the Listing editor.
