Just a few minutes ago, a PEREGRINE FALCON swooped down at a pigeon
outside my 15th floor window at 4th and Union in downtown Seattle. It
didn't get the pigeon, but I had a great view of it as it then flew up and
presumably over my building (which is only 21 stories). My best guess is
that it was a male, but I'm not positive. Although I have very mixed
feelings about encouraging falcons to nest amidst dangerous glass-fronted
buildings, I sure missed watching them last year at the Washington Mutual
Tower (just a block away). Perhaps this is a sign they'll return to their
next box this year. It was basically headed in exactly that direction when
I saw it.
