Hi folks,

Saw this on the BirdBand listserver, and thought that perhaps some one
on the list might be looking for a bird-related job. I summered over in
North Dakota years ago, working for N Prairie on a duck nesting
project. It was really neat to see all of the shortgrass prairie birds there.
And, the land grows on you. Of course, if you're used to mountains
(any elevation) or the coast, it might take a bit getting used to.... :-)

Please contact Dr. Pietz for information, not me.

temporary positions for GS-5 biological science technicians to open at
Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center (U.S. Geological Survey).
Technicians will capture, band, and radio-tag female brown-headed
cowbirds on grassland study areas in eastern North Dakota or western
Minnesota. Technicians will radio-track cowbirds, using truck-mounted
and hand-held antennas, to evaluate cowbird habitat use and home range
size. Qualified applicants should have experience handling passerines
and locating animals with radio-telemetry. They should be able to
identify birds that breed in the northern Great Plains by sight and/or
sound, accurately map telemetry locations, and observe and record bird
behavior. Applicants must be in good physical condition, possess good
communication and organizational skills, and work well both

State driver's license are required. Positions are likely to start 15
May and continue into early August; salary is $10.93/hour. If you
would like to be notified of these openings, please send a copy of
your resume as soon as possible to the address listed below. In your
resume, please describe your relevant job experiences (including
