On the varied thrushes I have been meaning to post on the flocks that I
observed on the Port Gamble CBC on the closed Pope Lands on the West side of
Hood CAnal. I had a flock of at least 67 individuals with other small flocks.
They would be sitting in the trees and as I drove along they flew across the
road in front of me. Most (80-90%) looked like imm. or female. I think I
finished with 133 VATH for the day. Quite a memorable experience.

To identify a species should not be enough to quench one's thirst,
a proper thirst must seek to understand every facet of the bird's
existence.
