I can't see that much crimson in these birds so maybe I'm

If they have gray and brownish streaking on the head, and a streaky/spotted white breast and belly, they're most likely Song Sparrows. The amount of rufous coloration in the back and tail varies a lot from individual to individual, and with light conditions.
