Subject: "Yellow-shafted"X"Red-shafted Flicker" intergrade in yard!

Well Charlie;

Speaking of Intergrade Flickers, on Feb. 5, 1989 I banded a Red-shafted AHY-F
that had all the attributes of a Red-shafted; however, the underside of outer 4
left tailfeathers was a bright yellow. The outermost tail feather on the right
was also yellow.
The the underside of the rest of the tailfeathers were red. Tailfeathers were
either completely red or yellow
..
Then again on Sept. 29, 1989 I banded an AHY-M which also had all the attributes
of the Red-shafted, but instead it had a
a red nape.

One of the things you run into while banding. You have the bird in the hand to
examine closely.
