On January 7, 2000, I saw about 15 Yellow-rumped Warblers foraging on the
ground and in low vegetation at the parking area of the North Unit of Scatter
Creek Wildlife Area south of Olympia, Washington. There were some Oregon
White Oak trees around and a few big piles of cut Scot's Broom. The area
is predominantly open grassland but there are patches of trees and shrubs
here and there. "Open brush" works fairly well as a general description of
this habitat, though it is more open than brush.
