Hi Tweeters!

The following message was sent to me by Craig Roberts:

I read your posting on Tweeters re Eurasian Green-winged Teal. As I am
brand new on the Internet I was not sure how to post a response on Tweeters,
nor how to respond to the person you were responding to, as their address
was not shown. However, I can tell you about Aleutian Green-winged Teal. I
am a leader on Attu, where almost all of our Greenwings are of this type.
There are rare carolinensis there. Nimia was supposedly a larger form
resident in the Aleutians. However, according to Steve Heinl, another of
our leaders, recent reviews of specimens have shown the size differences to
be negligible and/or inconsistent and "nimia" is no longer considered a
valid subspecies. Hope this is of interest, and feel free to post on
Tweeters if you think people would be interested. Craig Roberts
