Danene,

Enjoyed your posting on tweeters. I too find it amazing how few people look
up!

One small point though, you mention the first eagle you saw was male "by
size and coloration." It's the coloration part that has me puzzled. Male and
female have the same coloration. In immature plumage there's a lot of
individual variation (and some adults have some brown spots that may help
identify the individual too), but non sex-based. At least non that "we" are
aware of. Size really is the only thing.

Don't you hate that, when you make a small slip-up and people fall all over
you?

As far as the eagles is concerned, did you know that WITH A SCOPE (hope you
own one) you can see an eagles nest from Houghton Beach Park? Specifically
the Hunt's Point nest. The nest is in a tree on private property on the
east side of Hunts Point. From Houghton Beach you look SW past the tip of
Yarrow Point. Come early March when incubation ought to start (and assuming
this year this particular nest will be used), scanning the tree tops in that
direction should work (I've done it).

Good luck,
Martin Muller
