A bit late with this report -- sorry.

As the weather had been forecast to be poor, I was not surprised to be all
alone. In fact, as is usually the case, the weather much better than
predicted. Yesterday morning was overcast, but really quite pleasant. There
was not a breath of wind, so quiet walking was the rule. I find that on those
quiet days, making a lot of noise really scares off the birds. But,
conversely, walking slowly and quietly (and nonchalantly) allows very close
approaches. I had no success pishing, and quickly gave it up for the day.

Several pretty good birds as follows:

Horned Grebe 1 well out on lake
Gr. White-fronted Goose 1 in with CAGO on grass soccer flds
Amer. Wigeon Fairly unusual for Marymoor
Bald Eagle Adult flew NW over mansion at 7:30
Virginia Rail Eager to call on the boardwalk
Fox Sparrow 20-25!
Western Meadowlark 6 at north end of East Meadow
Purple Finch Many, seen in 4 separate locations

41-43 species total. I got ridiculously close to Downy Woodpecker (2 feet
above my head) and Fox Sparrow (all around me at one point).

Marymoor has been host to large flocks of Canada Goose this winter. They are
not there every day, but usually it seems. These flocks are very diverse in
terms of CAGO races -- I've seen at least 4 and maybe 5 races this winter. The
flocks should also be checked for Greater White-fronted Goose and Snow Goose,
as the odds seem pretty good for seeing one or both of those species whenever
the CAGO flocks number more than about 250.
