Dear Tweets,

At 4:00pm I could not locate the gull at the mill site, but it looks like it
might have moved down to the mouth of the river. To access the mouth of the
Puyallup River take the Portland Ave exit going north off of I-5. Go
approximately 3 miles until the 11th St. bridge and cross over heading east.
You'll then need to do a U-turn to access the eastside of the Puyallup
levee. Because of the lighting, morning would definitely be best for
viewing.

If you are looking for the Slaty-backed and 1st year Glaucous Gull:

Back track South on Portland Ave (1 1/2 mi.) to Lincoln Avenue and a bridge
that crosses east over the Puyallup. Immediately on your right you will see
the mitigated marsh, the Gog-le-hi-te Wetlands. The parking lot is one block
down on your right. Check out the marsh and the top of the buildings,
especially the rendering plant - best viewed from the corner of the dirt
road. No luck, after you cross the bridge turn left on Stewart Street, go
north a block, jog one block west and you will be on the river. Sometimes
the gate to the levee is open and you can drive almost down to the 11th St
bridge and park. The Slaty-backed gull has been located just south of this
bridge and up on the rooftops of the SeaLand Building. If the gate is
closed, get well off of the road, those SeaLand trucks are big.

If you really want to make it a Big Gull day, try for the Little Gull that
is being seen at American Lake. Take the Thorne Lane exit off of I-5 to
Woodlawn Ave and into Harry Todd Park. There is a good view of the majority
of the lake from this vantage.

Good Birding,
