I, too, have witnessed a Bald Eagle successfully attack a gull. About
ten years ago I was walking on the South end of Bainbridge Island with
my mom when a Bald Eagle swooped down on a flock of gulls in the water
about 30 yards away from us. It grabbed a gull and then dunked it under
water (seemingly intentionally). It then flew to the beach and proceeded
to munch on the still-alive gull (yikes). If I had subscribed to
Tweeters at that time I would have complained about the cruel and
unusual treatment of the gull.
