This morning we headed for Bridgeport and surrounding area to look
for reported Sharp-tailed Grouse and a Snowy Owl. Nope...didn't see
either species.

We drove to Foster Creek road and headed southwest to Mansfield, then
northwest
on Mansfield road back to Foster Creek road and back to Mansfield. On
to Coulee
City and along Banks Lake back to Grand Coulee. We traveled one
hundred and forty-four miles and saw twenty-four species.

The HORNED LARKS are everywhere now. Just east of Mansfield we
spotted one SNOW BUNTING and a LAPLAND LONGSPUR (A life bird for us.)
with the Horned Larks. We saw several ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, BALD EAGLES,
RED-TAILED HAWKS and one PRAIRIE FALCON north of Coulee City.

The RED-WINGED BLACK BIRDS are back to this area. (We have had some
at our feeders the last week.) East of Mansfield, there was a WESTERN
MEADOW LARK. A surprise to us, but maybe it shouldn't be.

Along Banks Lake, we observed a immature BALD EAGLE soaring along the
cliffs. It went several miles, never flapping a wing. There were two
TUNDRA
SWANS in the cold waters of Banks Lake.

The ride helps with the winter cabin fever and it is always fun to add
a life bird.
