Subject: Sad Day for Bellevue (Lakemont) Birders

Most of you will probably have no idea of the area that I am speaking about.
There is a lot called the "Glad Site", named for the former owners at the
corner of 164th Ave SE and Lakemont Blvd SE. It is a large lot with many
trees, brush and undercover that house many birds, squirrels, coyote,
rabbit, etc. I constantly walk the property and view the many pileateds,
flickers, sapsuckers, etc. that live on the property. I am sad to say that
the owners of the land (Intracorp) have decided to press on with development
of 87 townhomes, even while they list the undeveloped property for sale to
any other interested parties. I have been in contact with the city of
Bellevue on this, as there is a large tractor taking core samples that are
to be used for obtaining the final permit sometime in early spring.

I am sending this as information for anyone that likes to bird the area, as
I do, to give it one last look. It won't be there too much longer.

If anyone else would like to send messages of inquiry as I have to the
developers, their website is
