Yes Brock, I know the area well. For many years, back in the 70s and
thru the 80s, I drove 164th across Cougar Mountain on my way to work
in Renton and back. That was before Lakemont blvd. existed.
Frequently, I would see deer, bear, coyote, racoon , opossum, etc.
Once, there was a porcupine even. The whole area was rural. No
development. Then, there was the issue of the road accross the
mountain to joinup with West Lake Sammamish Parkway that was contested
for years (They did it anyway). One morning, on the way to work, I
saw the Lakemont Blvd street signs in place and the development began.
I think the developers will not stop until every last square inch of
natural space either has a building or a parking lot on it. Then they
will start tearing down the older ones to build new. Progress, by all
means!
