Tweets,
Just back from Belize and reviewing the ongoing tweeters discussion of
eagles dining habits, including their predilection for coots, I have to add
the following observation. A few days ago while birding the lagoon by boat
at Crooked Tree Sanctuary in Belize, we watched a Peregrine pluck an unlucky
American Coot off the water's surface and then carry it off to an unseen
dining location. There were several thousand other coots there to supply
further falcon needs. I hope they are easier prey than the far less
abundant Sungrebes there.
