That's the major headline of the weekly Prosser Record Bulletin this
week which uses most of the front page plus a long column inside to
cover a story about a local couple who saved a red-tailed hawk from
certain death. For those out of the area who are not likely
subscribers here is a synopsis of the story taken from captions under
the lead photo: Joe Hughes and Sonia Waller of Prosser discovered the
injured bird hanging lifeless from a tree in their pasture on New Year's
day. The bird was sent to WSU to be treated for serious infection that
required surgery and amputating on the bird's talons. This past
Saturday the healthy bird was returned to the area where it was
originally found and was released. The bird flew directly to its
nesting tree and rejoined it's mate. It seems to be recovered.
