This winter, I have noticed a Pileated using a snag in the ravine behind my
house for a roost. It shows up every day about a half hour before sunset,
calling loudly, flies to the sang after checking out the whole area, and
disappears into the hole. One day as I was watching, a Red-tailed Hawk came
swooping by the snag just as the Pileated disappeared into the hole!

Does anyone know if the Pileateds will nest in the same hole they are using
this winter for roosting? I know there's a pair in the area.
