Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This

Nehls at 233-3976.

On July 2 a singing male DICKCISSEL was observed along Oceanview Drive
south of Brookings. A subadult male INDIGO BUNTING was netted and banded
west of Grants Pass June 29. Four GREAT-TAILED GRACKLES were flying just
north of Agency Lake in the Klamath Basin July 5. On July 3 a
YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was at the E.E. Wilson Wildlife Area north of
Corvallis.

LEAST and WESTERN SANDPIPERS are now being seen in many areas. On June 30
an adult SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER and a PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER were among a
swarm of shorebirds on the North Spit of Coos Bay. On June 27 a very
unexpected breeding plumaged ROCK SANDPIPER was at the mouth of Siltcoos
Creek south of Florence. It was gone the next day.

Up to 20 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were flying south past Boiler Bay July 3.
The summering LONG-BILLED CURLEW continues to be seen at the mouth of the
Necanicum River at Gearhart. Another was inland, on the golf course at
Banks, June 30. A SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER was at the South Jetty of the
Columbia River July 5.

An EASTERN KINGBIRD was near Cape Blanco July 3.

Both THREE-TOED and BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS continue to be seen at the
Elk Lake Burn south of bend. Both species were also along the Taylor Burn
Road near Waldo Lake June 30. A BLACK-BACKED was at the Scott Lake
Trailhead at McKenzie Pass June 30, and a THREE-TOED was at Lost Lake at
Santiam Pass July 3.

The REDSTART along Indian Fork Creek, north of Sisters continues to be
seen. Another was netted and banded near Agency Lake in the Klamath Basin
during the week. A BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER was in the mountains southwest
of Summer Lake June 30.

Thats it for this week.
