I found an Ash-throated Flycatcher this morning in the Potholes area
that seemed to be on territory. Only one bird and it did not call,
but it was active chasing away kingbirds. It was directly across SR
262 from the Lind Coulee arm boat access to Potholes Reservoir. The
old dam tender's house that is boarded up, 150 yards east of the
outlet to Potholes Canal (the north vehicle entrance to Columbia NWR
from SR 262) has several old elm and pine trees that the flycatcher
was using. Also the Bonaparte's Gulls have returned to Migraine Lake
(south of the Soda Lake Dam in CNWR), with 17 there this afternoon.
