I went on the WOS field trip lead by Kraig Kemper last Saturday, up Rt. 20
from Mount Vernon to just short of Rainy Pass in Skagit County. We targeted
east-side species that spill over into western Washington, and were
fortunate to get LAZULI BUNTING and EASTERN KINGBIRD at the Corkingdale
power lines, as well as AMERICAN REDSTART and VEERY near the county line
ponds. Mount Hardy burn was deadly quiet, but we were rewarded with a bonus
bird, a pair of PINE GROSBEAKS along side Rt. 20, just opposite the entrance
to the Easy Pass trailhead.
Pine Grosbeak was a life bird for me....
#495 for the ABA area....
only 5 to go to 500 ABA species....
not that I'm listing or anything....
