the South Jetty of the Columbia River, Clatsop Co., OR
8 July 2000 1010-1110hr

Wind NW 10; Temp 60F


Method: 60 minute station count at 100m west of "3 rocks" on
SJCR using 20x60 Bushnell spotting scope and 8x50 Bushnell
binoculars. Birds were sorted as to flyby, sitting on beach, sitting
on ocean or sitting on river.

Notes: An MEW GULL sporting (if it weren't for the time of year)
what I would have called 2nd winter plumage was a big surprise.
There was very little COMMON MURRE activity off the jetty. I'm
taking that to be a good sign.
