A little tragedy played out for me as I was running my errands this
morning.....

As I was turning from 272nd street to West Valley Hwy I spied a couple of
Brewer's Blackbirds behaving strangely on in the middle of West Valley a bit
south of the intersection. The female was flapping and flopping wildly from
her side to her back and over and over, never righting herself. Her healthy
mate stuck close by, almost guiding her out of the road. I slowed and
stopped my car as the two traumatized birds flapped and flopped over to the
side of the road. Both birds made it to safety, and the female continued to
flop herself into the brush and her mate remained by her side as I drove
off.

Perhaps a car just ahead of me hit the female in flight.....I hope she
didn't suffer long.

My condolesences to Mr. B. Blackbird.
