Hi Tweeters

Am late with posting about ospreys..been really busy at work. twpweeks
ago, I went bding between Port Townsend and Sequim.
Went to Gardiner Beach, and on the estuary part, I saw some
Kingfishers..1 male and 2 females.......Do kingfishers have more than
one brood? I was very surprised to see the male mate with one of the
females. A week later, I returned to the same area. Saw both male and
female kingfishers again.

The day I first saw them, I also saw an osprey fly over the water of the
estary, looking down, fishing. It did some hovering as it searched for
fish..but n fish.......I recently had my camera repared--and when I saw
the oparey, I started fumbling for my scope......totall forgot I had the
camera with me in working order!!!!!! da!..
I did take some pictures, but not when the bird wqas really close....

That same day, I went to the 3 crabs ponds. Was looking at various
ducks, ducklings, and a couple shorebirds. Had taken soem pictures. Was
looking at the bird book, trying to figure out what the ducks were, when
I heard one of the hen duck screaming bloody murder!.
An opsrey was ? landing ? or looking for a change in diet??

What a rackett!!!!! Ducks all yelling..
Black birds and other birds all racing into the area. and mob attack on
the opsrey !!!!!!!!
AWESOME !!!!!!!!! I have never seen anything like that before.....

Now, my question: Do osprey eat other prey besides fish?????????

Yesterday, I was out side early afternoon. Had the mister going over my
fountain (current motor for the fountain is too powerful, so can't use
it), low enough so that it also drips into the fountain. I had a bunch
of fledgling chestnut baced chickadeen and nuthatches. Got some
pictures of the baby nuthatch as he was on the suit feeder.

I have black header grosbeaks around this summer.....hven't seen any
babies,tho.

Til next time
