Tweeters,

Today, Sunday, 7/16, I birded in Kittitas and Grant Counties with Wayne
Tullay, who is visiting from California. We started at 6:30AM in Vantage.
We did not find the BLACK-THROATED SPARROW on Recreation Drive or .8 miles
south of the State Park on Huntzinger Road. On Recreation Drive we had a
SAGE THRASHER and at the Huntzinger Road location we saw a large
multi-family group of CHUKARS. Fortunately, we ran into Ted Kenefick who
had just seen the BLACK-THROATED SPARROW further south on Huntzinger Road,
near the dam. With his fine directions, we located 2 male BLACK-THROATED
SPARROWS in the same sage bush.

We also found a SAGE SPARROW and several BREWER'S SPARROWS at the Quilcene
Wildlife Area.

>From there we headed to Wilson Creek, where we did not find TRI-COLORED
BLACKBIRDS after a short search. We returned to Mile Post 71 on Highway 28
where we enjoyed a SNOWY EGRET. No WHITE-FACED IBIS was to be found. Also
at this location were GREATER YELLOWLEGS and WESTERN SANDPIPER.

Our next stop was the Quincy STP. Sightings there included LEAST SANDPIPER,
WILSON'S PHALAROPE, EARED GREBE, LONG BILLED DOWITCHER and a variety of
ducks.
