I was just curious about where you are located. Are you sure they are
Western and Not Eastern? I volunteer at a garden in Federal Way (on the
West side of the mountains), and they get the same problem, but they are
all eastern grey Squirrels.
You can buy hot pepper powder in Bulk in the health food section of the Fred
Meyer and also a number of mail order sources are available for powdered
hot pepper to mix into your bird seed so the squirrels won't eat it.
