Another reference on the impacts of grazing (and the politics of
grazing on public lands) that makes fascinating reading is "Sacred
Cows at the Public Trough" by Denzel Ferguson. A large part of this
book describes Dr. Ferguson's personal experiences and skirmishes with
the grazing industry while he was Director of the Malheur Field
Station in Oregon. Unfortunately my copy seems to have temporarily
sprouted wings, so I can't supply the name of the publisher or
publication date. Perhaps another reader can provide these?
