Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday July 20. If you have anything to add call Harry
Nehls at 233-3976.

On July 17 a BAR-TAILED GODWIT was at the mouth of Ten Mile Creek in Coos
Co. A HORNED PUFFIN was seen July 16 on the ocean just off the viewpoint
at the top of Cape Foulweather. It has not been relocated.

A male MAGNOLIA WARBLER was netted and banded July 13 near Canyonville in
Douglas Co. A SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER was on the fenceline along
Highway 205 south of Burns July 15. It has not been relocated.

A SANDHILL CRANE was at Cape Arago near Charleston July 15. Large numbers
of BROWN PELICANS and HEERMANN'S GULLS are now along the coast; on July
18 up to 500 PELICANS were around Coos Bay, and on July 15, 170
HEERMANN'S GULLS were at the mouth of the Columbia River.

BLACK and RUDDY TURNSTONES, TATTLERS, and SANDERLINGS are now back along
the coast. On July 14 a LONG-BILLED CURLEW and a SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER
were at the Necanicum River mouth at Gearhart. On July 19 three ELEGANT
TERNS and a PECTORAL SANDPIPER were there.

On July 17 a WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE and five BLACK-NECKED STILTS were at
Ankeny NWR near Salem. A BLACK SWIFT was over Eugene July 15. A RED-EYED
VIREO was at Trilliam Lake, in the Cascades south of Mt. Hood, July 19. A
PYGMY NUTHATCH was west of the crest in Santiam Pass at Big Lake July 12.

A WHITE-FACED IBIS and an UPLAND SANDPIPER were in Bear Valley west of
Seneca July 13. A trip to the Troutcreek Mountains July 16 found two
BEWICK'S WRENS and a VIRGINIA'S WARBLER south of Whitehorse Ranch.
