The chipmunk that Lydia Gaebe saw at the Nisqually delta was likely the
Townsend Chipmunk, Eutamius townsendii townsendii. Anthony's book Field
Book of Mammals says it is found in the humid coastal regions of Oregon,
Washington and southwestern British Columbia. The Townsend group of
chipmunks is rather large. The Cooper Chipmunk, Eutamius t. cooperi is
found in the Cascade Mountains. Eutamius amoenus caurinus, the Olympic
Chipmunk, is found in the Olympic Mountains up to timberline

I had them at my home at Diamond Point, Gardiner, Clallam County which
was on the shores of the Strait of San Juan de Fuca. I used to enjoy
seeing them run along on my split rail fence, grab a strawberry from my
garden and scurry back on the rail fence to their den. A little while
later repeat the process.

I hope this answers her question. Maybe some one has later data.
