According to Baicich, P.J. and C.J.O. Harrison. 1997. Nests,
Eggs, and Nestlings of North American Birds. Academic Press,
San Diego.

"Breeds on mountains at high altitudes around glaciers and melting snow,
also on rocky islands in Alaska. Nest in a cavity or ledge of rocky
tundra outcropping. Sometimes in buildings on Alaskan islands, using
beams and cracks>
"Nest: Bulky; built of rootlets, mosses, lichen, grasses and pine
needles, when available; line thickly and firmly with fine grasses
and occasionally feathers (often from ptarmigan) and hair.
"Breeding season: mid-June to August. May be double brooded."
