Hello, tweeters. I have been an avid birder for 6 years, yet I have never
birded outside my home state of SC, save for a trip to NC's Outer Banks. I
just received word from my employer that I will be in Tukwila 4 August
through 25 August. Needless to say I am excited beyond words, not just from
a professional standpoint, but as an avid birder/butterflier I am thrilled
at the prospect of new sightings and meeting new people. After a good bit
of research via the web on birding Washington State and the King County
area, I have ordered from the ABA the following: Birder's Guide To Ocean
Shores, WA; Birds Of Yakima Co. WA; Birder's Guide To WA; and the Field Card
of WA Birds. My question is, yes there is a question, are there any other
recent publications on finding birds in the WA/King County area that I
should look into purchasing upon my arrival? On the WA Audubon web-page
under Birdwatching in South King Co., Thais Bock refers to the King Co.
Thomas Guide for directions. Is this a bird-finding guide, or is this the
King County; Street Guide and Directory I see that Borders.com has on sale?
Indulge me one more request, please...any suggestions on publications of
butterflies of WA state? I have been able to find absolutely nothing
on-line, save for the NAS Field Guide to North American Butterflies and
Tilden and Smith's Peterson guide of Western Butterflies. Any local Audubon
field trips out of the Seattle area 5 August-25 August? Thanks in advance
for anybody's help.
