Hi Tweeters: Well, I just got back from Flammulated Heaven (Blewett). I
pulled off to the side of one of the FSR's and waited for dusk. I was
sitting on my tailgate eating sunflower seeds just as it was getting pretty
dark when a 'bird' landed in the tree not more than 5 feet away. It seemed
so small, but, grabbed my flashlight and turned it on and there it was. I
was able to take several photographs before it took flight. There definately
seemed to be more than two out there flying around divebombing me. After
about an hour I still didn't get to hear the famous 'boot' call so I gave it
my best effort only to be rewarded by a chorus of them calling from
underneath the road. What a night for an owl lover!! Bryan Mathews,
