Kyle et al.:

I found an active Rosy Finch nest in 1988 along Rim Drive at
Crater Lake National Park in Oregon. The date was sometime in late
June. The nest was located in a crevice in rocks in a road cut. I
could hear young birds calling but could not see them. The adults were
feeding on a snow patch below the nest and periodically bringing
insects to the young.

I suspect that the end of July might be a bit late to find nests--
the young may already have fledged-- but you might be lucky and still
find some young in the nest. Good luck!
