the South Jetty of the Columbia River, Clatsop Co., OR
28 July 2000 1025-1055hr

Wind SW 10; Temp 65F


Method: 30 minute station count at 100m west of "3 rocks" on
SJCR using 20x60 Bushnell spotting scope and 8x50 Bushnell
binoculars. Birds were sorted as to flyby, sitting on beach, sitting
on ocean or sitting on river.

Notes: A low dense fog rolled in at about 10 minutes into the
count reducing visibility to about 300m. The number above reflect
only a partial count almost entirely of birds on the beach. I also
spent about half an hour read colored leg bands on CASPIAN TERNS.
