Hey Mike,?Thought you'd be interested to know that while wandering around the Palouse this weekend, I saw a male Common Grackle (Quiscalus quiscala) in the picnic area at Palouse Falls State Park on Saturday (5/27/00).? (Palouse Falls State Park is straight north of Walla Walla and straight west of Pullman, if that helps.) I heard it first and thought I must be mistaken.? Then there it was.? Greenish blueish with that yellow eye and twisted tail.? (I grew up with these birds back in Wisconsin.)? According to the Nat. Geo guide, this species does appear in the Pacific states and Alaska during the late spring, so I didn't think it was too big of a deal.? I'm assuming it was just passing through, but thought I should make a note of it anyway.? Please feel free to pass this information on to any of the folks on the listserves or hotline.?Alan
