Couple of months ago I reported a Sharpie hanging on to the side of
a crack in the wood siding of the Crocodile Cafe in Belltown
(an urban neighborhood just north of downtown in Seattle). I suspect
that it was looking for House Sparrow nests in much the same
fashion.

>>Michelle reported a Sharpie trying to extract swallow chicks from nest
box. A neighbor observed a similar event but an adult in the nest box was
caught instead. I wonder if this type of predation is common when natural
cavities are being used. Sharpies do hang out about feeding stations and
associated nesting boxes of one sort or another are sometimes present. Bill>
