This is Dave Holick with the Northern Idaho / Eastern Washington
/Northeastern Oregon bird hotline for Friday May 26 (2000). This hotline,
sponsored by Palouse Audubon, is updated every Friday evening.

On May 25, Warren Current saw several BOBOLINKs along Oakshot Road west of
Colville, Washington. Delorme atlas page 118 D 1. He also reported BLACK
TERNS on the Colville lagoons.

During the weekend of May 20 and 21, the LCBAS field trip to Fields Spring
State Park listed 92 species. According to Dennis Rockwell, these included
FLAMMULATED OWL, SAW-WHET OWL, and WILLIAMSON'S SAPSUCKER. Washington
Delorme page 43 D 7.

On May 21, Bryan Jamison reported a FRANKLIN'S GULL and a COMMON TERN, both
at Mann's Lake east of Lewiston. Idaho Delorme page 54 A 1.

There were two reports of WHITE-FACED IBIS in central Washington. Bill and
Nancy LaFramboise were informed of a flock of 20 along Grosscup / Twin
Bridges Road in West Richland, Washington Delorme page 39 B 6. Randy Hill
reported at least one at Para Ponds along McManamon Road northwest of
Othello, Washington Delorme page 53 A 7.

May 22 a LARK SPARROW was reported by Jane Westervelt a mile up Coyote Gulch
Road from State Route 12 east of Lewiston. Idaho Delorme page 54 A 1. On
May 23 Bryan Jamison had several along the Old Spiral Hwy north of Lewiston
(formerly the old Hwy 95 hill).

Four LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS and a SPOTTED SANDPIPER were reported by Tom
Besser as being at the new ponds along Foothill Road north of Moscow, Idaho.
This is part of a watershed renewal project which bears watching as this
site becomes established.

Kas Dumroese reported a ROCK WREN in his yard May 22. On May 23 he had his
first LAZULI BUNTING. On May 25 he heard a BARRED OWL early in the morning.
Kas is located about 5 miles south of Moscow, Idaho.
