Banding Report for Neawanna Banding Station
Seaside, Clatsop Co. OR

29 May 2000

Method: Up to ten 9m mist nets are placed in mixed Oregon
Crabapple/Twinberry/Spruce along the the upper Neawanna River,
Seaside, Clatsop Co. OR. Captured birds are measured, ringed
with USBBL numbered metal bands and released. Data on time of
capture and side of net captured are also recorded to gain
an understanding of movements through the area.

NOTES: It would appear that the spring migration is
over for the most part. CEDAR WAXWINGS have moved into
the area to take advantage of the excellent TWINBERRY
crop. One captured female showed a developing brood
patch, another bird was seen carrying nesting material.
6 of 7 newly captured SONG SPARROWS were hatch year birds.
The recaptured BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEE was first banded
8/22/1999, the SWAINSON'S THRUSH 5/22/1999 and the SONG
SPARROW 4/18/1999.
