Tweets,

Nancy & I just moved from near Green Lake (where we'd been for the past 25
years) to Lake Forest Park (LFP). Our new location is right above Ballinger
Way near Bothel Way, on 1/2 acre that backs up to a watershed wetland of 12+
acres along MacKinnon Creek, a minor tributary of Lyons Creek. The people who
lived here before had a major bird feeding operation going, which we have
inherited. (The house, however, is a fixer-upper.) The list so far includes:

Bald Eagles overhead
Band-tailed Pigeons courting in the Big-leaf Maples over the deck
Barred Owls (and Western Screech and Great-horned, say the neighbors)
a Rufous Hummer
Downy and Hairy Woodpecker pairs at the suet feeders
Pileated Woodpecker (feeding young at a nest along the creek)
Northern Flicker (in a nest hole along the creek)
Pacific-slope Flycatcher
Steller's Jays and crows, of course,
Black-capped & Chestnut-backed Chickadees nesting nearby
Red-breasted Nuthatches and Brown Creepers nesting
Bewick's and Winter Wrens nesting
Swainson's Thrush singing
A ton of robins
Hutton's Vireo singing
Spotted Towhees and Song Sparrows
Black-headed Grosbeak singing & visiting the feeder
Red Crossbills
etc.

Not bad for starters.

Gene Hunn.
