EXPLORE THE BLACK RIVER HERON COLONY!

Check out the GREAT BLUES! Herons, that is.

So you like BIG BIRDS like great blue herons and bald eagles. Come learn
how these two giant neighbors affect each other. Enjoy a fascinating
slideshow program by Ann Eissinger, naturalist, heron researcher and
manager of the Pt. Roberts heronry (largest Great Blue Heron colony on
the west coast.) Then join Suzanne Krom and Camp Long Naturalists on a
tour of the Black River Heronry in N.W. Renton. Learn about this unique
urban nesting site to watch four-foot babies make their first flights.
Suzanne has been studying this Great Blue Heron colony for 11 years and
spearheaded the effort to preserve the Black River Wildlife Sanctuary.

Be sure to dress for the weather and please bring binoculars and
spotting scopes if you have them!
