Mosebar heron rookery site is where double-crested cormorants have
been encroaching into heron nesting trees for at least three years
now. I counted 6 of 33 nests still occupied by heron; each with 1-2
partially grown young. Approximately 40 cormorants were in and
around the remaining nests. This is about the same status as this
time last year.
Three black-crowned night-heron flew in from the west (direction of
the Satus WRA Main Unit) and landed briefly in a Russian olive
thicket. After about 30 minutes they flew off back to the west.
