The more I hear these birder stories, the more I think that there might be a
4-wheel drive in my future. If I'm going to graduate to "Twitcher"
(apparently a British term for a person who travels to get a lifer), or a
"Chaser" as I heard the term from people from back East, then I might just
have to get a better birder vehicle. Hmmm.
Jim Flynn led a Rainier Audubon trip in May to the Colockum Pass area NE of
Ellensburg. I couldn't go but later I heard about that road. Can you say
dirt road w/ knife-sharp rock in the road bed? Apparently, you not only
need 4X4 (in places, they turned around at that point); but you need very
gnarly tires to withstand the rock.
I guess I have a question for Rahne, who picked the wrong dirt road to
Wenas. Will Christine ever go on another roadtrip w/ her? Of course there
was that 111 species for the trip...... Anyway, I loved that story. It was
LOL funny.
