Two pairs of purple martins are nesting on the lower Duwamish at T-105, a
public access area off of West Marginal Way, just downstream of Kellogg
Island. I've seen them consistently in the mornings and the one time I
checked at dusk. They're using nest boxes furthest from shore on pilings,
and were reported to me last week. Pat Cagney of the Corp of Engineers told
me he saw a martin at this site last year, but I'm not aware of nesting
activity.
This morning I made a quick check on the Ballard martin boxes while it was
raining, but I left shortly after not seeing any martins.
