Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday June 8. If you have anything to add call Harry

On June 1 a BLACK RAIL was flushed from the marshes in Malheur NWR. It
was along the Central Petrol Road .9 mile south fo the Benson Pond Road.

A COMMON GRACKLE was at New River south of Bandon June 2. Another was in
front of the Shilo Inn in The Dalles June 4.

A ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was at a Bandon feeder June 2. Another was at a
feeder east of Waldport the same day.

COMMON NIGHTHAWKS arrrived in western Oregon during the week with many
reports from the Willamette Valley. BLUE-WINGED TEAL continue to be
unusually common in western Oregon. During the week 28 were at the new
Amazon Wetlands in west Eugene, and 40 were on the N. Spit of Coos Bay.

A BLACK-THROATED SPARROW was near Cape Blanco June 7. Two BLACK SWIFTS
were at New River June 1. Two PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS were on the North
Spit of Coos Bay June 4. Four PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS and a male LAPLAND
LONGSPUR were near Ten Mile Creek south of Yachats June 3. A LONG-BILLED
CURLEW was with 15 WHIMBRELS on Yaquina Bay June 4. A first year GLAUCOUS
GULL was at the D River mouth in Lincoln City June 4. A FRANKLIN'S GULL
and two HEERMANN'S GULLS were in Lincoln City June 6.

Seven WHITE-FACED IBIS were at Ridgefield NWR June 4. RED-EYED VIREOS are
now back at their nesting sites at Virginia Lake on Sauvie Island and at
Luckiamute Landing in SE Polk County. A BARRED OWN was on the east side
of Smith Lake in North Portland June 4. A BLACK-THROATED SPARROW was
along U.S. 30 north of the Sauvie Island Bridge June 5. Another was at
Powell Butte Park near Gresham June 7. LAZULI BUNTINGS are now very
common at Powell Butte Park.

A SWAINSON'S HAWK was over Oak Island Road on Sauvie Island June 2.
Another was over Oaks Bottom in SE Portland June 3. On June 1, 26
WHITE-FACED IBIS were near Corvallis.

A GRAY CATBIRD was found in Bend June 1. It was just south of the
Colorado Street Bridge on the west side of the river.

A singing LEAST FLYCATCHER has been on territory all week at the start of
the nature trail at Page Springs Campground. a BAND-TAILED PIGEON was
heard there June 1. A CATBIRD was at Page Springs during the week.

WHITE-FACED IBIS are extremely common this spring in Harney, Lake, and
Klamath Counties.
