Subject: Kent/Tukwila Ponds

Three birders went on the monthly ELWAS trip to Kent and Tukwila Ponds. It
was a cold, for June, day with a light rain all morning, but we still saw
some good birds. List follows - all birds were seen at Kent Ponds, unless
noted otherwise.
Pied-billed Grebe - both ponds
Canada Goose - both ponds
Gadwall
Mallard - both ponds
Blue-winged Teal - at least 4 pair
Cinnamon Teal - 1
Northern Shoveler - 1
Great Blue Heron - both ponds
Osprey -1
Bald Eagle - at Newport Hills P&R before leaving on trip.
Northern Harrier - 2, no wing tags visible
Red-tailed Hawk - 4, including one that hovered quite a while, then dove into
grass and came up with a prey, larger than a mouse - possibly a vole, flew to
top of a pole and proceeded to gorge on it.
Merlin - 1
Ring-necked Pheasant - 2
American Coot - only at Tukwila Pond
Spotted Sandpiper - 2
Vaux's Swift - about 15 circling overhead

American Robin - both ponds
European Starling
Marsh Wren
Tree Swallow
Violet-green Swallow - both ponds
Barn Swallow - both ponds
Cliff Swallow - both ponds
American Goldfinch - both ponds
