Friday 6/9 7:49AM Tom Arissa, 206-782-7342. Reporting
primarily from Grant County, Central Washington.
Some of the highlights included the tri-colored blackbird
colony in the Crab Creek Drainage up there near Wilson
Creek-at least 20 to 25 birds, and adults were noted
feeding juveniles in the colony, so they probably will
disburse out from that area within the next few weeks.
Difficult to say. Also two adult Franklin Gulls at Lake
Lenore, and the unusual thing was that one of these birds
was diving at me as if to be territorial. Both birds were
in primary molt, no signs of eggs or chicks were noted.
Also had 8 more adult breeding plumage Franklin Gulls in
Othello just north of town on those small lakes as you
leave town. Also at Lake Lenore was a first winter Mew
Gull, pretty unusual for the location. There was a Bonaparte
Gull in Soap Lake, and also a pair of greater Scaup were at
Lake Lenore. Had a pair of burrowing owls that Craig Kemper
noted near exit 151 and those birds have a nest right on the
southeast side of the highway embankment; there's 8 juveniles
there with really good viewing right now, at least for a while.

Thursday 6/8 4:15pm John O'Connell, Anacortes, 360 299 4375 today
at 12:15 pm at the Snoqualmie WRA in Monroe, an adult Sora Rail
was observed on the south end of the boardwalk crossing Crescent
Lake. Also present were two juvenile birds in the water near the
shore. Thank you.
