Hi Tweets,

Have just returned from a trip to Utah where we made a late season stop
at the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge at the NE end of the Salt Lake.
The Refuge lies on the eastern side of the Great Basin, and may have
matched Malheur NWR for diversity of species before the Salt Lake rose
in the 80's and killed off the trees there. Still, even without most
passerines and with most ducks having long since headed north we found
good birding there, especially large numbers of American White Pelicans
-- at one point we saw two kettles of about 75 birds each circling over
the marsh. We were able to spend much of a second day in Logan Canyon,
and ended with 86 species for a relatively short trip.
