The Ovenbird is fairly easy to find near Packwood, Lewis County. Tom Eckert found this bird earlier. He led us (Patrick and Ruth
Sullivan, David Hayden, Ken and Laurie Knittle) to it yesterday and with his permission we are putting directions on tweeters.

At Packwood turn onto Skate Creek Rd. at the Texaco Station. Go .8 mile. Turn right onto Cannon Rd. The bird is exactly 6.0 miles
from this intersection. 4.5 miles up the road is the end of the pavement. At 5.2 miles there will be three roads taking off. Stay
to the left and go .8 farther. A tape makes the bird fly back and forth across the road. It is easiest to follow his loud
"teacher, teacher" and most of the time he was seen between 25-40 ft. up in the trees. A few times we found him on the ground.
This may be the easiest Ovenbird to find in Washington as most other records are one day sightings. He may stick around for awhile.
