Thanks Ed for the reminder. You said very well something that has worried me. I have been particularly aware this year that we do not have the Barn Swallows or my old favorites, the Violet Greens, that we used to have in my neighborhood. The Barn Swallow pair that regularly nested on my neighbor's front porch light fixture was discouraged from that site a year ago when they had remodeling work going on. No sign of the pair anywhere this year. Between climate change, crows and cats, pollution, pesticides and other disasters, we may lose our swallows for ever. Let's celebrate those little guys by making life easier for them like Ed suggested.
